How CGI is revolutionising the real estate industry

Good photography is highly valued within the real estate industry. After all, it’s an excellent tool for marketing property because it represents a property accurately. As property buyers, photography has led us to expect, should we pop around for a viewing, the property should match the photographs.

Photography is excellent for existing properties or properties which have already been built. However, what about properties that haven’t been built yet? What about when you are intending to complete a property conversion? For example, when converting a commercial property into a residential property, or the other way around? How do you communicate and represent those types of projects using photography? It’s very, very challenging.

The traditional method

Traditionally, architects will provide the likes of plans, drawings, sketches to help represent what the real estate project should look like after the final phase has been completed. Although this method is still widely used within the real estate community, it doesn’t best represent what the final output should actually look like.

CGI in the real estate industry

Our suggestion for solving that challenge is Computer-Generated Imagery (CGI). CGI is the closest tool you have to photography. It represents the final project in its best and most realistic light.

When reviewing drawn plans, you don’t always get an accurate perspective or realise the final vision. However, when using CGI, you do. For example, you can change; the material of the worktops (marble, wood, stainless steel, etc), the style of flooring (wooden floors, tiling, etc), the colour scheme (white walls, wallpaper, etc), the layout…the list goes on.

The benefits of using CGI rather than photography is that you can change all of these things and it can be done very easily. By using CGI, you can communicate clearly with potential buyers to let them know precisely how their property will look at the end.

This is massively appealing for buyers because they know exactly what they’re buying. For sellers, it’s even better because you can drum up so much interest before you even start the project.

Also, aside from marketing, it’s a brilliant internal communication tool. If you have a workforce working on a new development or a conversion, you can clearly communicate the standard you expect for that project.

Reducing costs

If you think that it’s too expensive to create a complete visual representation using CGI, we’ve got news for you - it doesn’t have to be. We found a very affordable and straightforward method for producing new interiors, exteriors, or plans of new developments using CGI.
